ITALY

It’s impossible to see all of Italy on one trip, unless you’ve booked a yearlong holiday. This longtime favorite vacation spot simply has too many intriguing cities, ancient history, delightful beaches and beyond excellent restaurants. For a first visit, you’ll have to see the traditional classics: Rome, Venice, Florence and Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast or Lake Como. And beyond the biggest tourist hubs are vibrant side regions, like Cinque Terre, Umbria and further afield Sicily, or cities like Milan and Genoa that would be first-tier in any other country, but in Italy, with so many options, often get forgotten. Wherever you may roam, however, expect the most delicious food, good wine and a healthy dose of ancient history.
